Terms and Conditions
Free 20-minute Clarity Call & Paid Initial Consultation
1. Definitions
1.1 "Clarity Call" means the complimentary telephone call up to 20-minute preliminary consultation.
1.2 "Initial Consultation" means the paid 1.5 hour consultation.
1.3 "Client" means any person who books or participates in the Services.
1.4 "Services" means the Clarity Call and Initial Consultation.
1.5 "Terms" means these Terms and Conditions.
2. Application
2.1 These Terms govern all Services provided by SU Legal Pty Ltd ("SU Legal").
2.2 By booking or participating, the Client agrees to be bound by these Terms.
3. No Solicitor-Client Relationship
3.1 No solicitor-client relationship is created by booking or attending the Services.
3.2 A relationship arises only upon execution of a formal costs agreement.
4. Confidentiality and Privilege
4.1 SU Legal is bound by professional obligations of confidentiality.
4.2 Legal professional privilege may not attach prior to formal engagement.
4.3 Information disclosed may not be protected to the same extent as under a formal retainer.
5. Conflict of Interest and Improper Purpose
5.1 The Client must not use the Services to create a conflict of interest.
5.2 The Client must not disclose information for the dominant purpose of preventing SU Legal from acting for another party.
5.3 SU Legal may refuse or terminate Services where such conduct is suspected.
5.4 Where no material confidential information has been received, SU Legal may act for another party in the same or related matter.
5.5 The Client acknowledges that preliminary contact alone does not prevent SU Legal from acting for another party.
6. Clarity Call
6.1 The Clarity Call is limited to general information only.
6.2 It does not constitute legal advice.
6.3 It is restricted to 20 minutes and high-level broad discussions only.
7. Initial Consultation
7.1 The Initial Consultation is a fixed fee service payable in full prior to the appointment.
7.2 Legal advice may be provided during this consultation. The consultation does not create an ongoing retainer.
7.3 Further work requires a separate costs agreement.
7.4 If you are unable to attend the initial consultation and provide 24 hours’ notice, we will provide you with a full refund. If you provide us less than 24 hours’ notice, we reserve the right to hold your payment to schedule for another suitable day or alternatively provide you with a full refund.
8. Trust Account
8.1 In accordance with the requirements of section 249(1)(b) of the Legal Profession Act 2007, you authorise SU Legal to transfer from our trust account to our general account or to any other trust account, held on your behalf, any money relating to professional fees, statutory charges, and other outlays incurred on your behalf on any matter where SU Legal acts on your behalf.
8.2 All fees are deposited into SU Legal’s trust account.
8.3 Funds are transferred only after a bill is issued.
9. Limitation of Liability
9.1 To the maximum extent permitted by law, SU Legal excludes liability for reliance on information provided during a Clarity Call.
9.2 Nothing excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.
10. Compliance
SU Legal complies with applicable legislation including the Legal Profession Act 2007 (Qld), Australian Solicitors’ Conduct Rules, and Australian Consumer Law.
11. Privacy
Personal information is handled in accordance with SU Legal’s Privacy Policy.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia.
